In this week’s session, I introduced our upcoming jersey draping project – the Charlie cocktail dress. Despite feeling under the weather, I wanted to give you a preview of this exciting new design and share some key information about working with jersey fabrics. I also touched on our upcoming vacation plans and content schedule.

Since I wasn’t feeling well enough for a full demonstration, I focused on:

  • Showing previews of the Charlie cocktail dress design
  • Explaining different types of jersey fabrics and their properties
  • Demonstrating how to select appropriate jerseys for draping projects

Questions & Answers:

  • Q: Is there an easy way to search for specific demonstrations?
  • A: We’re working on improving the search functionality, especially as we open up to the public. For now, use the bookmark feature to save helpful sections.

  • Q: What kind of jersey should we use for the Charlie dress project?
  • A: Look for two-way stretch jerseys, preferably rayon for good drape. Double jerseys or interlocks are great for the final product. For draping practice, cheaper nylon or polyester options are fine.

Next week, I’ll be introducing the t-shirt draping project and demonstrating how to turn it into a block. This will lead into our work on the Charlie dress, where we’ll apply similar techniques to create both cocktail and short dress versions.
