In this guide, I demonstrate how to trace and copy a close-fitting master torso block to develop a bodice block.

I show the process of pinning the pattern to a grid, tracing the key elements of the bodice, and adding important markings like the armhole and center front/back lines.

This technique is essential for creating a foundation for various bodice designs in dressmaking.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Pin the master torso block to a grid paper to prevent movement
  2. Trace the bodice outline, including waist, center front, darts, shoulder, apex, and side seam
  3. Add neck and armhole curves
  4. Mark the center front line
  5. Repeat the process for the back piece
  6. Add armhole markings to both front and back pieces
  7. Double-check all traced elements for accuracy
