In this video, I teach how to cut bias tape from silk fabric, which can be used for bindings or spaghetti straps. I also demonstrate how to extend the length of bias tape by joining two pieces together.

I show the process of cutting bias tape from silk fabric using a rotary cutter, ensuring the blade is sharp for delicate fabrics.

Lesson Steps:

  • Fold the fabric at a 45-degree angle to create the bias
  • Separate the bias section of the fabric
  • Use a rotary cutter with a sharp blade for cutting silk fabric
  • Cut the bias section into desired widths, marking with chalk if needed
  • Cut the bias tape pieces one by one, keeping sections small and manageable
  • To extend the bias tape length, cut the diagonal ends straight
  • Place the two straight ends face-to-face and sew the corners together
  • This creates a continuous, extended length of bias tape
