In this guide, I demonstrate how to transform a close-fitting tailored skirt block into a more relaxed fit skirt pattern.

I cover various techniques such as adding width to the hem and sides, dropping the waistline, and adjusting the hip area for a more comfortable fit.

The process includes tracing the original block, making necessary modifications, trueing the seams, and adding seam allowances and notches to create a finished pattern.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Trace the original skirt block onto dot paper
  2. Add width to the hem and side seams
  3. Drop the waistline
  4. Close and adjust darts
  5. Blend new lines and curves
  6. True the seams
  7. Add seam allowances
  8. Mark grain lines, cutting instructions, and size information
  9. Add zipper placement
  10. Mark notches and dart endpoints
  11. Cut out the final pattern
