In this guide, I teach how to draft a pattern for a high-waisted tapered skirt, focusing on creating a tapered hemline.

I explain the importance of adding a slit or vent when tapering a woven fabric skirt, discuss the ideal tapering length, and demonstrate how to measure and adjust the pattern for a comfortable fit around the knees.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Determine the amount of tapering (usually 2-2.5 cm on each side).
  2. Measure the circumference around the knees to ensure comfortable movement.
  3. Mark the tapering points on the pattern from the hip to the hemline.
  4. Draw new tapered lines on the pattern.
  5. Add a vent or slit to the back of the skirt for ease of movement.
  6. Place the zipper on the back, starting below the hip.
