This guide teaches how to properly add length to a curved hemline of a skirt.

It explains that instead of following the curved hemline and adding length, you should mark the desired length from the finished hemline, follow the side seam curve, and then cut the fabric along that line.

This ensures that the added length aligns with the side seam and doesn’t create tightness or bunching at the hemline.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Identify the finished hemline of the skirt.
  2. Mark the desired additional length (e.g., 3 cm or 1.5 inches) from the finished hemline.
  3. Follow the curve of the side seam from the marked point.
  4. Cut the fabric along the line created by following the side seam curve.
  5. When folding the added length to the hemline, it will align with the side seam and avoid tightness or bunching.
