In this lesson, I taught how to create a very close-fitting jersey sloper through draping.
I demonstrated the process for both the front and back pieces, focusing on achieving a tight fit while maintaining proper alignment of center lines and key body points.
Lesson Steps:
- Prepare the jersey fabric with grid lines and center markings
- Pin the fabric to the dress form, starting with the center front
- Secure key points like apex, shoulders, and neckline
- Stretch and pin the fabric to achieve a tight fit, focusing on the waist area
- Adjust and refine the fit, ensuring center lines remain straight
- Mark the hemline and remove the front piece
- Repeat the process for the back piece, starting with center back alignment
- Stretch and pin the back piece, paying attention to curves and fit
- Mark key lines (bust, waist, hip) on both pieces
- Remove the draped pieces and prepare for pattern creation
- Make any necessary corrections to match lengths and measurements
- Use the resulting sloper to create various close-fitting jersey garments
