In this session, I taught how to transfer the draped t-shirt foundation onto paper pattern pieces and make adjustments for a close-fitting and relaxed fit t-shirt sloper.
I demonstrated transferring the draped t-shirt muslin onto dot paper, truing the pattern, and adjusting for close and relaxed fits. I measured key points, straightened curves, closed darts, and finalized the front and back sloper patterns.
Lesson Steps:
- Transfer draped muslin to dot paper by pinning and tracing
- True the pattern by straightening curves and adjusting measurements
- Close the front dart by bringing it down into the armhole
- Measure key points like shoulder, apex, hip length to check accuracy
- For close fit, keep the pattern as traced from muslin
- For relaxed fit, go out 1″ at side seams, down 1/4″ at armholes
- Curve the side seams slightly for a more natural shape
- Finalize the front and back sloper patterns, marking grainlines
- Note differences between close and relaxed fits for future reference
