In this session, I taught how to drape a very close-fitting jersey sloper on a dress form. I demonstrated the steps to create a tight, stretchy foundation pattern that hugs the body’s curves.

I prepared the dress form with gridlines and pinned a stretch jersey fabric tightly around the front and back, shaping it to the form’s contours. I focused on getting a snug fit around the waist area while maintaining the center front and back lines straight.

Lesson Steps:

  • Prepare dress form with gridlines and center front/back lines marked
  • Pin jersey fabric at center front, securing it from neck to hip line
  • Stretch and pin fabric around bust, waist, and hip areas on front
  • Ensure center front line remains straight while shaping fabric
  • Pin fabric at center back, securing it from neck to hip line
  • Stretch and pin fabric around back, focusing on waist and hip curves
  • Maintain straight center back line while shaping fabric
  • Mark bust, waist, and hip lines on the draped fabric
  • Remove draped fabric pieces, keeping front and back separate
  • Refine the pattern pieces as needed for a proper sloper fit
