In this session, I demonstrated how to cut the fabric and lining for the Amanda dress project. I explained the different fabrics I would be using for the bodice, skirt, and lining, and showed the process of cutting out all the necessary pattern pieces.

I used a crepe back satin fabric, cutting the matte side for the bodice and lower skirt, and the satin side for the top skirt. I also cut lining pieces, using the satin side of the same fabric for the bodice lining, and a separate lining fabric for the skirt.

Lesson Steps:

  • Cut the bodice and lower skirt pieces from the matte side of the crepe back satin
  • Cut the top skirt pieces from the satin side of the fabric
  • Cut the bodice lining pieces from the satin side of the crepe back satin
  • Cut the skirt lining pieces from a separate lining fabric
  • Organize and label the cut pieces by placing the pattern on top
  • Add notches to the pattern pieces as needed
  • Prepare all the cut fabric and lining pieces for sewing
