In this session, I taught how to drape the bodice for the Amanda dress project.

I demonstrated preparing and pinning muslin pieces to the dress form, shaping the fabric around the curves, and creating the princess seams for a close-fitting bodice. I also showed how to mark style lines, add ease, and prepare the pieces for pattern making.

Lesson Steps:

  • Prepare and press muslin pieces according to provided dimensions
  • Pin center front piece along straight grain, aligning with dress form
  • Shape front bodice piece, pinning inside style lines
  • Draw style lines and mark reference points on front bodice
  • Drape side front piece, aligning grain and shaping around curves
  • Pin princess seams together and adjust fit
  • Drape back bodice pieces using same techniques
  • Mark all style lines, darts, and reference points
  • Pin side seams together and add ease where needed
  • Check overall fit and balance before removing from dress form
