In this session, I taught how to transfer the draped twist muslin pieces into a pattern.

I demonstrated the process of flattening the muslin pieces, pinning them to dotted paper, and transferring the outlines using a tracing wheel to create the pattern pieces, transferring them to paper, truing the pattern, and adding necessary details like seam allowances and markings.

Lesson Steps:

  • Flatten the draped muslin pieces using a hot iron, without steam or stretching
  • Pin the muslin pieces to dotted paper
  • Transfer the outlines to the paper using a tracing wheel
  • True the pattern pieces, adjusting for any stretching or misalignment
  • Measure and mark important points like apex, waistline, side seams, etc.
  • Add seam allowances (1 cm recommended)
  • Include necessary information like garment name, size, cutting layout
  • Optional: Add facing pieces for a clean finish around neckline and armholes
