I walked through the process of creating a simple pocket using the same fabric as the trousers, avoiding the complexities of separate facings and linings. This method is ideal for beginners or those looking for a quicker, less complicated approach to trouser pockets.

Demonstration Steps:

1. Cut a single pocket piece from the trouser fabric
2. Overlocked edges to prevent fraying
3. Marked notches and attachment points on trouser front and pocket piece
4. Added interfacing strips to pocket opening edges for stability
5. Attached pocket to trouser front along opening edge
6. Pressed and topstitched pocket opening
7. Secured pocket at waist and side seam

• Q: What if the pocket piece doesn’t align perfectly with the trouser front?
• A: Small discrepancies are normal. Focus on aligning the top of the pocket and don’t worry if there’s a slight difference at the bottom.
