In this week’s session, I focused on updating members about our plans for the Draping Society community and previewed fabrics for an upcoming dress project. I addressed questions about engagement on our website versus Facebook, discussed holiday video releases, and shared a sneak peek of the materials for our next dress design.
There was no specific teaching demonstration in this session. Instead, I covered various topics and updates:
Questions & Answers:
- Q: Could you add a PDF with all the information about fabric amount and materials needed for the jacket project?
- A: Yes, I will release that soon.
- Q: If I want to make the jacket longer, what should I do?
- A: I’ll give you a demo on how to adjust the pattern for length in next week’s Q&A session, which will coincide with the release of the pattern-making video.
- Q: I’m having difficulty finding stay tape. Can I use fusible stay tape?
- A: I don’t recommend fusible stay tape, especially for thin fabrics. Instead, you can create your own stay tape using silk or organza cut on the straight grain, about 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch wide.
- Q: How do you plan to handle community engagement moving forward?
- A: We’re considering the balance between our website forums and a Facebook group. We’ll give it more time and reassess in late winter to decide what works best for everyone’s engagement and enjoyment.
