In this week’s session, I shared insights from the latest Paris Couture Fashion Week, highlighting key trends and designs that inspired me. We explored various designer collections, discussing elements like twists, drapes, and volume that we’ll be incorporating into our upcoming projects. I also gave a preview of our next project – a twist dress with added sleeves – and encouraged everyone to prepare their corset bases for future draping exercises.
While there was no specific teaching demonstration in this session, I covered several key points:
- Discussed current fashion trends from Paris Couture Week
- Previewed our upcoming twist dress project
- Encouraged preparing corset bases for future draping exercises
- Shared fabric ideas and inspiration for the twist dress
Questions & Answers:
- Q: For the muslin, do we use light, less stiff fabric?
- A: It depends on the project. For tucks and tiny pleats, thin cotton or lightweight wool is good. For general use, a mid-weight muslin (calico in the UK) is versatile. Having both on hand is ideal for following along with different designs.
- Q: What fabric are you considering for the twist dress?
- A: I’m thinking of using two different colors to make the twist more prominent, or possibly a patterned fabric. I want to go a bit wild and make it extra interesting!
