Classic Shirt Course

In this session, I taught about draping a classic shirt with all the essential elements like a yoke, classic sleeve, cuff, and stand collar. I explained the purpose and variations of the yoke design and the necessary preparation for draping.

I introduced the classic shirt draping project, explaining the different yoke styles and their purposes. I emphasized preparing the dress form with reference lines and provided measurements to cut muslin pieces for the front, back, and yoke sections.

Lesson Steps:

  • Understand the purpose and variations of the yoke design
  • Mark reference lines on the dress form: bust, waist, hip, side seams, neckline, shoulder, and armhole
  • Measure and mark the yoke style lines (Neda’s measurements provided)
  • Take measurements from the dress form to determine muslin piece dimensions
  • Cut muslin pieces for the front, back, and yoke sections based on measurements
