In this session, I demonstrated how to create a more fitted shirt front by adding a bust dart. I reattached the front piece, smoothed out the excess fabric around the bust area, and folded it into a dart at the bust line.
Lesson Steps:
- Reattach the front piece and level the waistline with the hip line
- Smooth out excess fabric around the shoulder and armhole
- Mark the new lines with a blue pencil
- Identify the bust line and fold the excess fabric into a bust dart
- Mark the end points of the dart to note its length and width
- Option 1: Add a bust dart for a more fitted look
- Option 2: Gather the excess fabric around the shoulder for more room in the bust area
- Prepare to true the muslin pieces in the next session
