In this session, I demonstrated how to create a more fitted shirt front by adding a bust dart. I reattached the front piece, smoothed out the excess fabric around the bust area, and folded it into a dart at the bust line.

Lesson Steps:

  • Reattach the front piece and level the waistline with the hip line
  • Smooth out excess fabric around the shoulder and armhole
  • Mark the new lines with a blue pencil
  • Identify the bust line and fold the excess fabric into a bust dart
  • Mark the end points of the dart to note its length and width
  • Option 1: Add a bust dart for a more fitted look
  • Option 2: Gather the excess fabric around the shoulder for more room in the bust area
  • Prepare to true the muslin pieces in the next session
