In this lesson, I taught how to draft the sleeve cuff, button band, and prepare for drafting the collar for a classic shirt. I demonstrated the steps involved in creating these pattern pieces.

Lesson Steps:

  • Draft the sleeve cuff by folding paper, measuring desired cuff width (8 inches + 1-inch extension), and creating a rectangular shape
  • Add seam allowance (1 cm) around the cuff pattern piece
  • Draft the button band by extending the center front by 6 cm (2 cm x 3 folds)
  • Mark button placement along the button band, spacing them 5-6 cm apart
  • Measure the neckline circumference while bending the tape measure/ruler to get an accurate standing measurement
  • Use the neckline measurement to draft the collar piece in the next lesson
