In this lesson, I taught how to transfer the muslin shirt pieces onto pattern paper and make necessary adjustments before drafting the sleeves. I demonstrated truing the side seams, adjusting armhole curves, and lengthening the shirt hem.

Lesson Steps:

  • Transfer muslin pieces to dot paper tracing the final lines
  • Mark important reference points like center front, shoulders, waist, etc.
  • True the side seams by folding and matching them
  • Smooth out armhole curves if needed
  • Adjust hem length as desired at front, back and sides
  • Separate front and back bodice pieces
  • Label each pattern piece with garment info and grain line
  • Measure actual armhole lengths and compare to original measurements
  • Prepare to draft sleeves using the updated armhole measurements
