In this lesson, I taught how to prepare the muslin fabric for draping the basic bodice. We measured the required lengths and widths, cut the fabric pieces, and pressed the seam allowances.

Lesson Steps:

  • Measure the length from center front neckline to waistline, adding a few extra inches
  • Measure the width across the bust from center front to center back, adding ease
  • Cut out the front and back bodice pieces in muslin based on measurements
  • Press under a 1/2 inch seam allowance on all edges, avoiding the selvedge
  • Mark important reference points like center front/back, bust line, and shoulder blade line
