In this session, I taught how to transfer the draped muslin back bodice pattern onto dotted paper to create a clean, final pattern. We traced all the lines carefully, marking important points like darts, shoulder blades, and bust lines.

Lesson Steps:

  • Mark the center back, side seams, shoulder blade line, bust line, and waistline on the muslin
  • Pin the muslin onto the dotted paper, aligning with the grid lines
  • Trace all lines using a tracing wheel, marking darts, armholes, and neckline
  • Draw the center back line straight, making 90-degree corners
  • Draw the side seam straight with 90-degree corners
  • Trace the bust line and shoulder blade line
  • Draw the shoulder line, marking the shoulder point at 90 degrees
  • Trace around the neckline
  • Mark the punch hole circle to indicate dart direction
  • Draw dart lines following the tracing wheel marks
  • Lightly draw the armhole and neckline
  • Find the center of each dart and draw a straight line from there to the punch hole
  • Adjust any curved or misaligned lines to be straight and smooth
  • Ensure the shoulder seam is drawn straight, not curved
