In this session, I taught how to finalize the pattern pieces for the bodice by matching the side seams, armholes, and shoulders. I emphasized the importance of precision and shared tips for achieving a well-fitted armhole and neckline.

Lesson Steps:

  • Match the side seams from waist to underarm, pinning and straightening any uneven lines
  • Ensure the armholes match perfectly for a clean finish
  • Align the shoulder seams, matching the neckline first, then adjusting the shoulder length if needed
  • Check that the neckline has enough ease for comfort and movement
  • Separate the front and back bodice pieces
  • For each pattern piece:
    • Indicate the pattern type (e.g., basic bodice front/back)
    • Note the size
    • Mark “Cut 1 on fold” for center front/back pieces
    • Add 1/2 inch seam allowance all around, except center front/back
    • Transfer important markings like bust line, armhole, and notches
    • Label with grainline arrows and other necessary information
