In this session, I taught how to draft the skirt pattern for the Charlie dress.
I demonstrated taking body measurements and using them to create the basic skirt shape with darts/draping at the hips and hemline.
Lesson Steps:
- Measured half of underbust, waist, and hip circumferences and drew these horizontal lines
- Drew diagonal lines connecting underbust to hip measurements
- Adjusted curves at waist and hip for desired amount of ease/fitting
- Marked points along diagonal lines where I wanted draping/folds to occur
- Cut pattern pieces and inserted paper to create folds at marked points
- Trued the skirt pattern by laying it over the bodice pattern and adjusting as needed
- Added seam allowances before cutting final pattern
