In this session, I taught how to prepare the jersey fabric for draping the Charlie dress.

I explained the need to cut two pieces, one for the front and one for the back, of the same size, and lay them on the center front of the fabric.

I also demonstrated drawing straight grain lines on the fabric as reference points to maintain the proper grain direction while draping.

Lesson Steps:

  • Cut two pieces of fabric, one for the front and one for the back, of the same size
  • Lay the pieces on the center front of the fabric
  • Draw a straight line about 3 inches in from the side, running the full length of the fabric to mark the straight grain
  • Draw two more short lines, one 2-3 inches in from the opposite side, and another 4-5 inches in, to serve as additional grain reference lines
  • Prepare to tape the dress form before starting to drape the Charlie dress top
