In this session, I demonstrated how to tape the dress form to prepare for draping the Charlie dress design.

I showed the steps to mark the neckline, underbust seam, and other style lines on the dress form using tape.

I started by taping the underbust seam line from front to back, allowing for a lower back if desired. Then, I taped the deep V-neckline, which can extend all the way to the back or have a separate neckband.

I also marked the back neckline, underarm, and side seams, creating a closer fit at the underarm area.

Lesson Steps:

  • Tape the underbust seam line from front to back, adjusting for desired back length
  • Tape the deep V-neckline, extending it to the back or leaving room for a separate neckband
  • Tape the back neckline and underarm area, creating a closer fit at the underarm
  • Tape the side seams, allowing for some overlap at the front for gathering
  • Use the black tape for style lines and white grid tape for reference lines
