In this session, I taught how to correct and finalize the pattern for the Debbie dress. I demonstrated marking the key points like shoulder, waistline, sleeve length, and neckline on the muslin and transferring them to the paper pattern. I also showed how to add extra ease around the waist if needed.

Lesson Steps:

  • Mark the shoulder point, center back, center front, waistline, and desired neckline on the muslin
  • Transfer the markings to the paper pattern, drawing smooth lines
  • Check if the pattern pieces match at shoulders, underarms, and waistline
  • Add notches at underarm for ease in sewing curves
  • Add notches at center back to identify front/back pieces
  • Make adjustments if needed, like adding width around waist by introducing a curve
  • Blend the curve smoothly into existing lines, avoiding sharp angles
  • Ensure front and back pattern pieces match in dimensions
