In this session, I taught how to draft the bodice pattern and facing for the Debbie dress using the kimono sleeve bodice foundation. I demonstrated copying the front and back bodice pieces, creating the v-neckline, separating the sleeve, and adding seam allowances.

I guided through drafting the bodice pattern for the Debbie dress, including creating the v-neckline, separating the sleeve, and adding facings. I also discussed options for the sleeve style and provided tips for constructing the dress.

Lesson Steps:

  • Copy the front and back bodice foundation patterns onto new paper
  • Draw the v-neckline on the front bodice piece
  • Separate the sleeve from the bodice at the desired length
  • Add seam allowances around the bodice and sleeve pieces
  • Draft the front and back facings, adding notches for alignment
  • Mark grainlines and cutting instructions on the pattern pieces
