In this session, I taught how to add a bias strip and clean the sides of the silk dress, creating a neat and polished finish. I also demonstrated attaching the facing to the neckline and sewing the side seams using the French seam technique before attaching the sleeves.

I showed the process of bias binding the facing, stabilizing the neckline with a thin ribbon, and attaching the facing to the neckline. I then sewed the side seams using the French seam method and attached the sleeves, carefully folding and hand-stitching the lining to enclose the seams.

Lesson Steps:

  • Bias binding the facing edges
  • Stabilizing the neckline with a thin ribbon
  • Pinning and attaching the facing to the neckline
  • Pressing the neckline facing
  • Sewing the side seams using the French seam technique
  • Attaching the sleeves to the armholes
  • Folding and hand-stitching the lining to enclose the sleeve seams
  • Tacking the facing to the bodice with a small chain stitch
