In this session, I demonstrated sewing the front and back pieces of a dolman sleeve top. I aimed to create an open area at the back center for easy dressing without a zipper, finishing the seams neatly with bias binding and French seams.

I started by bias binding the back center seam. Then I French seamed the shoulder seams, side seams from underarm to hem, carefully trimming and pressing the seam allowances. Finally, I stitched the back center seam leaving an open area, pressing it open to prepare for bias binding.

Lesson Steps:

  • Bias bind the back center seam
  • French seam the shoulder seams
  • French seam the side seams from underarm to hem
  • Stitch the back center seam, leaving an open area
  • Press the back center seam open
  • Prepare to bias bind the neckline, hem and back opening
