In this session, I demonstrated how to cut the silk fabric and lining for the cowl neck bias draped dress project. I chose a satin charmeuse fabric, which can be slippery and challenging to work with for beginners.
Lesson Steps:
- Lay out the fabric and pattern pieces, ensuring sufficient width for cutting
- Pin the pattern pieces onto the fabric, pinning from the seam allowance
- Cut the fabric pieces carefully, using scissors or a rotary cutter (scissors may cause less fraying for delicate fabrics)
- Mark the notches on the fabric pieces, aligning with the pattern markings
- Avoid stacking slippery fabrics when cutting to prevent shifting
- Cut the lining pieces following the same process
