In this session, I taught how to drape the skirt portion of the cowl neck bias draped dress. I placed the decorative drape piece on the princess line, smoothed it out, and pinned it in place, creating a draped effect on the front of the skirt.

Lesson Steps:

  • Positioned the draped fabric piece on the princess line, not the center front
  • Opened up and lifted the fabric to utilize its full width, creating two large triangular shapes
  • Smoothed the fabric towards the side and pinned it in place
  • Repeated on the other side, smoothing towards the center back and pinning
  • Released tension by clipping excess fabric and pinning strategically
  • Marked important lines (center front, princess lines, side seams, waistline, hip line, center back) with a pencil
  • Folded the back drape and pinned it temporarily to visualize the final look
  • Cut the skirt to the desired length without disturbing the drape
  • Labeled the pattern pieces (side seam, center back, hip line) for future reference
