In this session, I demonstrated how to drape the back bodice of a cowl neck bias draped dress. I started by preparing the center back line and draping the fabric around the dress form, ensuring a natural fit around the armhole, neckline, and waistline.

I showed the process of draping the back bodice, creating darts, and marking important points like the bust line, waistline, and armhole. I also discussed design decisions for the back neckline, opting for a classic boat neck style.

Lesson Steps:

  • Prepare the center back line and drape fabric around the dress form
  • Adjust fabric for a natural fit around armhole, neckline, and waistline
  • Create back darts by marking L-shapes and pinning the excess fabric
  • Mark important points like bust line, waistline, armhole, and shoulder
  • Decide on the desired back neckline style (boat neck in this case)
  • Adjust the neckline accordingly and mark the final shape
  • Pin the front and back pieces together to check the overall fit
