In this session, I taught how to transfer the draped skirt onto a pattern paper. I marked all the important points like center front, center back, side seams, and fold lines on the draped fabric before transferring it to the pattern paper.

Lesson Steps:

  • Mark the fold line where the fabric was folded and sewn together as Step 1 in red.
  • Mark the waistline in blue, tracing the front and back waistline separately.
  • Identify and mark the center front, center back, and side seams on the draped fabric.
  • Adjust the center back line to be on the straight grain, if needed, to avoid stretching.
  • Transfer all markings accurately onto the dot paper to create the skirt pattern piece.
  • Ensure all crucial information like fold lines, seam allowances, and grain lines are clearly marked on the pattern.
