Dress Project: Emily

3-month Access

In this session, I teach how to sew the bodice of the cowl neck bias draped dress. I demonstrate sewing the back darts, attaching the front and back bodice pieces at the neckline and armholes, and finally closing the side seams.

Lesson Steps:

  • Sew the back darts and press
  • Pin the front and back bodice pieces right sides together at the neckline
  • Sew the neckline seam, using a loose tension for the stretchy bias front
  • Pin and sew the armholes, starting from the shoulder points
  • Notch the neckline and armholes if needed for a smoother finish
  • Pull the bodice through the armhole opening to access the side seams
  • Pin and sew the side seams, starting from the underarm, matching seams at intersections
  • Trim and press the seams for a clean finish
