In this session, I taught how to finish the bottom of the corset by adding a bias strip and hand-stitching it for a clean, professional look. I also discussed alternative methods like machine stitching or attaching a skirt lining.

I ironed and pressed the top part of the corset, ensuring a good fit. To finish the bottom, I stretched the lining and outer fabric evenly, pinned them together, and machine-stitched the bottom seam. I then cut a bias strip from the same fabric and attached it to the bottom edge, gently stretching and pinning it in place before hand-stitching it for a neat finish.

Lesson Steps:

  • Iron and press the top part of the corset
  • Stretch the lining and outer fabric evenly at the bottom
  • Pin the bottom seam and machine-stitch it
  • Cut a bias strip from the same fabric (about 1.5 inches wide)
  • Pin the bias strip to the bottom edge, gently stretching it
  • Hand-stitch the bias strip in place for a clean finish
  • Press the finished bottom edge with an iron
