In this session, I demonstrated how to cut bias strips from silk habotai fabric for the Amanda Jacket project.
Cutting bias strips, especially on delicate fabrics like silk, can be challenging but requires a steady hand and the right tools.
Lesson Steps:
- Lay the square fabric diagonally to create a triangle shape
- Test the rotary cutter on a small section to ensure clean cuts
- Use a ruler or paper pattern to guide the bias strip cutting
- Carefully cut 1.25-inch bias strips along the bias grain
- Optionally, use sharp fabric scissors for more control on delicate fabrics
