In this session, I demonstrated another example of creating a Hong Kong seam finish by bias binding each pattern piece along the seam edges before stitching them together.
I also showed how to cleanly finish the hem of the jacket using bias binding and hand stitching for a chic, professional look.
Lesson Steps:
- Trim seam allowances if needed to reduce bulk
- Apply bias binding to each pattern piece along seam edges
- Stitch bias binding in place
- Join pattern pieces together with Hong Kong seam finish
- For hem finish, apply bias binding along hem edge
- Fold bias binding over raw edge and press
- Hand stitch folded bias binding in place for clean, chic finish
- Option to leave neckline edges frayed or bind with bias binding
