In this lesson, I taught how to create an off-shoulder or bardot sleeve design.

I explained the two main types of sleeves that can be used for this style – a bardot band or a dropped shoulder sleeve.

I demonstrated how to draft a pattern for an off-shoulder or bardot sleeve style. I covered making a simple band sleeve as well as a dropped shoulder sleeve that extends under the arm.

Lesson Steps:

  • Mark the desired neckline depth on the front and back pattern pieces
  • For a short sleeve, draw the sleeve cap extending down from the marked point
  • Slightly curve in the sleeve cap underarm for a tighter fit
  • Line or face the sleeve cap for a clean finish
  • For a bardot band sleeve, cut the band piece on the bias for stretch
  • Sew the band pieces together and attach to the armhole edges
