In this session, I taught how to drape a raglan sleeve pattern directly on the dress form. I demonstrated transferring the bodice sloper markings to muslin, creating raglan lines on the dress form, and draping the muslin to achieve the raglan sleeve shape.

I showed the steps to drape a fitted raglan sleeve sloper by pinning muslin on the dress form, folding out excess fabric along the raglan lines, and truing the sleeve cap to fit smoothly around the armhole and shoulder.

Lesson Steps:

  • Transfer bodice sloper markings to muslin
  • Create raglan line markings on dress form from shoulder to underarm
  • Pin muslin to dress form matching center lines
  • Match underarm notches and smooth muslin over arm
  • Fold out excess muslin along raglan lines into a dart
  • Pin raglan sleeve cap at shoulder, truing as needed
  • Mark seamlines and notches on muslin
  • Remove muslin to transfer to paper pattern
