In this session, I demonstrate different ways to modify and secure draped designs using interior construction methods.

I show how to create stability without rigid structure by incorporating waist stays and hidden support points.

I explain how different positioning of drapes can enhance various body shapes while maintaining design integrity.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Explore different drape positions on the dress form
  2. Evaluate design variations for different body types
  3. Create hidden waist stay using self-fabric
  4. Attach center front anchor points to stabilize draping
  5. Position and secure interior support points
  6. Add concealed hooks and eyes for stability
  7. Incorporate interior bands for drape control
  8. Create clean finish at center back opening
  9. Test drape positioning at various body points
  10. Secure drape points to interior structure
  11. Add optional arm detail variations
  12. Position and attach all interior support pieces
  13. Create clean closures with hidden supports
  14. Test garment stability and movement
  15. Verify all support pieces maintain design integrity

These techniques allow you to create stable, wearable draped garments without rigid structure. Remember that the key is finding the right balance between fluidity and control – we want the drape to look effortless while being completely secure.
