In this lesson, I demonstrated how to create a basic raglan sleeve pattern. I traced the raglan sleeve shape, adjusted the curves, and explained how to separate the front and back pieces to add seam allowances for sewing.

I showed the process of transferring and refining the raglan sleeve pattern shape. I explained that this basic sloper can then be used as a foundation to experiment with design variations around the neckline or sleeve.

Lesson Steps:

  • Transfer the raglan sleeve shape using a tracing wheel
  • Adjust the curves to smooth out any sharp angles
  • Separate the front and back pieces
  • Add seam allowances to each piece
  • Sew the front and back pieces together at the raglan seams
  • Use this basic sloper to experiment with design variations
