In this session, I gave an overview of the oversized shirt blouse. The oversized shirt fits loosely with dropped shoulders, wider neck and armholes compared to a relaxed fit shirt. I explained that it can be developed from a relaxed full torso shirt foundation.

The oversized shirt blouse has a loose, relaxed fit with dropped shoulders and wider neck and armholes. It can be developed from a basic shirt foundation and styled in different silhouettes to flatter various body types.

Lesson Steps:

  • Discussed three different oversized shirt silhouettes: rectangular, triangular, and upside-down triangular
  • Explained how each silhouette can flatter different body shapes
  • Mentioned the shirt can have various necklines, sleeve styles, and front openings
  • Outlined two methods to create the pattern: drape a muslin first or start with a pattern draft
  • Next lesson will demonstrate preparing the muslin to drape the oversized shirt
