In this session, I demonstrated how to drape a close-fitted full torso sloper on a dress form with a larger size.
I taped the dress form, cut muslin pieces, and draped the fabric tightly around the form, pinning and adjusting to achieve a snug fit. I emphasized the importance of maintaining the straight grain and following the body’s curves.
Lesson Steps:
- Taped the dress form, separating one side for draping
- Cut muslin pieces based on measurements and added ease
- Draped the center front piece, pinning and stretching for a super tight fit
- Marked neckline, bust line, apex, waistline, and hip line
- Draped the side pieces, aligning the straight grain and pinning tightly
- Adjusted and re-pinned areas as needed for a smooth, curve-hugging fit
- Drew pattern lines on the pinned fabric
- Removed pieces without folding, ready to transfer to linen and sew
