In this session, I taught how to transfer a close-fitting full torso princess sloper pattern onto dot paper and prepare it for cutting.

I carefully pinned the pattern pieces, aligning them with the grid lines. I demonstrated measuring key points like bust, waist, and hip, and making adjustments to achieve an extremely close fit around the body.

Lesson Steps:

  • Separated the front and back bodice pieces and pinned them to dot paper
  • Marked bust, waist, hip lines and other notches
  • Drew in shoulder, armhole, and neckline, making them slightly smaller for an extra snug fit
  • Measured distances between key points like bust-to-waist to ensure accuracy
  • Made slight adjustments to curved areas like bust and hip for a smooth line
  • Added seam allowances of 1 cm on seams and 3 cm on hem to be turned under
  • Cut out the pattern pieces, transferring all markings
  • Added notches at bust, waist, hip lines to help with easing

The finished close-fitting sloper can be used as a tight dress form cover by inserting a separating zipper in the back seam. Interfacing can be added for more structure and a smoother look on the dress form.
