In this session, I demonstrated how to sew and fit a dress cover using fleece interfacing.
I attached the front princess seams, sewed the shoulders and side seams, and made adjustments to achieve a skin-tight fit on the dress form. I also discussed the importance of double-checking notches and cleaning up seam allowances.
Lesson Steps:
- Attach fleece interfacing to the dress pieces for structure
- Sew the front princess seams, matching notches carefully
- Pin and sew the center front pieces, matching notches
- Sew the shoulder seams, matching seams
- Sew the side seams, matching notches at bust, waist, and hip
- Clean up seam allowances and trim excess interfacing
- Transfer the sewn cover to the dress form
- Make adjustments for a skin-tight fit:
- Take in the center front
- Add small darts at the neck
- Trim excess fabric at shoulders and side seams
- Prepare for the next step of binding the neckline and armholes
