In this session, I taught how to drape a full torso princess seamed sloper that fits very closely to the body. This sloper can be used as a base pattern for tight-fitting dresses, gowns or bodysuits.

Lesson Steps:

  • Prepared 4 long muslin pieces for center front, center back and sides
  • Pinned the center front piece first, aligning at center and shaping around bust
  • Drew princess lines, bust, waist and hip lines
  • Pinned and shaped the side front piece, releasing tension for a smooth fit
  • Repeated the process for the back pieces, shaping around curves
  • Closed the shoulder and side seams, pinning the pieces together very tightly
  • Ensured the sloper is super close-fitting like a second skin
  • Marked any areas that need adjustments in red

This fitted sloper can be used in various ways – as a base to pad out a dress form, make a tight dress with boning, or even in stretchy knits for a sleek bodysuit. The key is achieving that sculpted, second-skin fit through careful pinning and shaping.
