In this session, I demonstrate how to transfer the draped skirt pattern onto paper and make necessary adjustments. I trace the skirt top piece, close the pleats, and match the darts to the bodice pattern.

Lesson Steps:

  • Traced the skirt top piece using a tracing wheel
  • Numbered and closed each pleat, matching the X and O markings
  • Drew the top waistline and pleat folds in different colors
  • Closed the side and back darts, adjusting for any shifting
  • Matched the back skirt piece to the bodice pattern
  • Shifted the skirt darts slightly to align with the princess seams
  • Checked the front skirt piece against the bodice and made minor adjustments
  • Added notches to mark the princess line on the front
  • Extended the pleat folds to account for the seam allowance
