In this session, I transferred all the finalized pattern pieces from the dress form to paper.

This included the front and back bodice, skirt, sleeves, and lining pieces. I color-coded the pieces and added important markings like notches, darts, gathering points etc.

Lesson Steps:

  • Pinned the draped fabric pieces on a paper grid to transfer accurately
  • Used a tracing wheel to trace over the finalized pattern lines in different colors (blue for outer fabric, green for lining)
  • Marked important points like center front/back, side seams, armholes, waistline, hipline etc.
  • Added notches at gathering points, zipper opening, slit openings
  • Decided to add facings at center front/back neckline and hem instead of lining
  • Planned boning at center front/back and sides for structure without being too stiff
  • Considered using organza interlining for sleeves to create puff without extra lining
  • Planned a technique to keep the front bodice close to the body without gaping
