In this session, I draped the back bodice, marked all the seams, waist gathers, and finalized the skirt length. I cut the hem, allowing us to transfer the draped pieces onto paper to create the pattern.

Lesson Steps:

  • Removed the sleeve from the front bodice to drape the back
  • Pinned the center back on the straight grain and draped around the neckline and waist
  • Marked the shoulder line, armhole, side seam, and waist on front and back
  • Decided on a V-shaped back neckline and marked it
  • Gathered the excess fabric at the waist by hand-stitching
  • Adjusted gathers to create a curved, hourglass silhouette
  • Marked the desired skirt length slightly below the knee
  • Drew the final skirt hem line, curving up slightly at sides
  • Marked all pattern details like center front/back, bust line, etc.
  • Prepared the sleeve piece by gathering the cap and marking details
