In this session, I draped the back bodice, marked all the seams, waist gathers, and finalized the skirt length. I cut the hem, allowing us to transfer the draped pieces onto paper to create the pattern.
Lesson Steps:
- Removed the sleeve from the front bodice to drape the back
- Pinned the center back on the straight grain and draped around the neckline and waist
- Marked the shoulder line, armhole, side seam, and waist on front and back
- Decided on a V-shaped back neckline and marked it
- Gathered the excess fabric at the waist by hand-stitching
- Adjusted gathers to create a curved, hourglass silhouette
- Marked the desired skirt length slightly below the knee
- Drew the final skirt hem line, curving up slightly at sides
- Marked all pattern details like center front/back, bust line, etc.
- Prepared the sleeve piece by gathering the cap and marking details
