In this session, I taught the initial steps of drafting the pattern pieces for the Freya dress, including the bodice lining, sleeves, and skirt.

I demonstrated measuring the dress form, transferring those measurements to the pattern, and making adjustments for ease and fit.

Lesson Steps:

  • Traced the back bodice pattern piece and marked for gathering at side seams
  • Measured armhole dimensions on dress form and pattern
  • Compared front and back bodice pieces, ensuring neckline and shoulders match
  • Drafted sleeve pattern with notches for pleating at hem
  • Added 1″ facing to sleeve hem for clean finish
  • Traced lining pieces for bodice front and back, adding slight ease
  • Began drafting skirt front and back pattern pieces
  • Marked all pattern pieces with grainlines, notches, and instructions
